        The Vetra brand was created by Edouard Beerens in Paris in 1927. VETRA's name was composed of the abbreviation of "VETements de TRAvail". The use of two syllables made it easier to memorize the short synthetic brand name VETRA.

        Vetra's infant years centered around producing high quality and durable workwear for Parisian craftsmen. Vetra have manufactured their products in Paris since its inception. The workshop is basically linked to the brand. They became so popular with workers, that during the late 60s/early 70s, some unions even imposed Vetra workwear in their bargaining negotiations! Despite Vetra always producing workwear, the company also manufactured five pocket jeans in raw denim. In 1964, a joint-venture was even considered with LEE but did not come to fruition.

        Prior to this, during the 50s, the brand was renowned when maintenance technicians in airways companies and workers in the petroleum industry in Africa were wearing 100% cotton uniforms. Exporting to mainly French speaking countries, their popularity grew due to the heavy duty garments (satins, light moleskins and twills). 

        The range of products has grown since the mid 90’s, with garments reinterpreted in collaboration with Japanese clients.

        Since 2010, Vetra have inspired a new generation. They continue to explore their past while creating new products, keeping in mind their original ethos that function makes workwear.

        Vetra's motto has always highlighted the high quality of the products and the right fitting of the garments.
